My goal is to offer a better alternative to character education. By doing so, I hope to enhance the futures of as many young students as I can.
Lots of character education programs want children to learn about pillars of character. In the Star Student Program, the students are the pillars.
How it started
What makes it different
The Star Student Program grew out of my experiences teaching in urban public schools in Baltimore and New Orleans. I saw that my kids had a lot of strong character traits, but they didn't always know it. I wanted a way to teach them to understand their character, and how to express it in a way that leads to personal growth.
It is a different approach to character education. It is coordinated with a behavior management system, a rewards program, and a character encouraging curriculum. Most of all, it encourages the growth of positive character traits that our students already possess.
